Random Heroes Stuff
Random Heroes stuff...

NO Spoilers, so don't worry!

  • The latest episode of the BBC's Heroes: Unmasked has just aired, focusing on The Petrelli Family and Peter in particular, and it is completely brilliant. (It's up at bittorrent, if you know how to use that, and I'll post the YouTube link as soon as I can.)

    Highlights:

    • The costume designer talks about how she dresses Peter and Nathan. She says that they paid a lot of attention to Peter's coat, so that it would look "beautiful" when he flew.
Costume Designer: [Milo] has such an incredible body that, you know, I try to show his arms and his body whenever we can...

...he sort of evolved from this boyish character to evolving, certainly in that scene where he's kissing Simone, it's like the boy has suddenly become a man, and sort of, in your mind, becomes another character.
(she says all this with a huge grin on her face.)

That is a word for word quote. I am NOT kidding. They also play "SexyBack" over clips of Milo doing a couple of photoshoots for Heroes. *diez and iz ded*

I guess she enjoys her job. *G* But I must protest: we only got 2 shirtless scenes the entire season! To me, this does not count as "showing him off whenever we can." Please rectify this in Season 2. XD

She also says that she was running her best friend's congressional campaign while filming, which made it easy for her to dress Nathan: a palette of red, blue, white, and gray, with lots of different blues.

    • Sendhil Ramamurthy talking about the Petrelli family:
Sendhil: The scenes that they do with their mother, you believe that they're a family, because it's real. Listen, all families do not get along, and this one *certainly* does not get along. It's at times hilarious and cringe-worthy to watch the interaction between this family, who are *so* dysfunctional, on so many levels, that it's compulsive watching.

LOL! Sendhil hearts the Petrellis, too. :-)

    • Tim Kring elaborates on his concept of the Petrelli family, and says that they were very specifically modelled on "the Kennedy Dynasty", with the father who had a shady past, and two sons: the older, more ambitious son, and the younger dreamer.
Kring: I thought...at the center of this story was this idea of these two brothers. The idea of one that was the "lost child," the one who is the dreamer, who can't seem to figure out what he wants to do with his life...the other was the overachieving older brother. He was the Golden Boy of the family, in a family that had secrets to begin with.

    • They went into a lot of detail about the flying stunts and visual effects, and showed us several of those scenes being filmed. It was amazing. I hadn't realized how physically taxing it was: the actors have to actually go through the flying motions with their arms, legs, etc. while being held in a harness.

And I have a renewed appreciation for everyone who has to stand really, really still during the Time-Stopping scenes. Sendhil says that the Future!Hiro and Peter encounter on the subway took 2 days to film.
Sendhil: Basically that entire scene became about me not blinking.

    • Adrian Pasdar appears for an interview wearing the most bizarre outfit I've ever seen in my life. A cowboy hat (but with a really narrow brim), and some kind of...NASA jacket? I have no idea. Clearly, Milo did not dress him that day. :-)

  • I rewatched a House episode last night where the patient was a girl who was insensitive to pain. (I'm hazy on the medical details, so forgive me. *g*) At first, you might think this is kind of cool, but it turns out that it is actually a huge pain in the neck, because the girl has to check herself over several times a day to make sure that she hasn't accidentally injured herself in any way.

For example, she has to check her corneas every morning to make sure she didn't scratch them in her sleep, she can't run anywhere without checking her toes to make sure she hasn't broken them, people can't hold her for too long in case she overheats, etc. etc.

And that got me thinking: isn't that kind of what life is going to be like for Peter now, unless he somehow learns how NOT to absorb powers? I mean who knows, one day he might accidentally brush past someone in the street who can kill with one touch, and then bam! Nathan or Claire dies in the next display of Petrelli family co-dependence affection.

For all he knows, he's got several abilities stored away that he doesn't know about, and that could manifest themselves at any time. He doesn't know, for example, that he's absorbed Eden's ability (unless Mohinder tells him, and oh, won't that be an interesting conversation), which could lead to some really funny scenes the next time he wants to persuade someone to do something.

I just have this mental image of Peter trying to carry out a check-up on himself every morning. "Let's see. Can I...turn on the TV with my brain? No. Can I...ripen fruit? *glares at green apple* No. Can I shoot laserbeams out of my eyes? No. Phew. Just as well. Can I...create a thunderstorm? *bolt of lighting crashes down and destroys the house* Oops. OK, add one more to the list."

  • Vid Rec: It's Raining Men, Heroes-style. Utterly, utterly hilarious and brilliant, and unusually well-done for a vid whose only point is that the men of Heroes are hot, and we are so, so lucky. XD

I think my favorite part is "Rearrange the sky."
