Heroes stuff...
First of all, a rec: [info]jadeblood has posted an awesome behind-the-scenes Heroes picspam here in her journal. It features Milo and Adrian being very...Italian. :D

Secondly: I just watched What a Girl Wants, a movie starring Amanda Bynes and Colin Firth. For those of you who haven't seen or heard of the movie, the basic premise is this. Lord Henry Dashwood (Firth), the only son of an old, established English family, had a brief but passionate romance at the tender age of eighteen with a carefree American girl, Libby Reynolds, while he was on holiday. They fell in love and decided to get married. Henry's evil relatives, however, sent the girl packing, telling her that she would do Henry's career no good, and telling Henry after she had left that she'd never cared for him, and had led him on. Libby goes back to live in New York, leaving Henry in his estate in England.

What none of them knew was the Libby was already pregnant when she left. O.o

Fast-forward to 17 years later, when Daphne Reynolds (Bynes), Henry's daughter, decides to find her father for herself, as she's dreamed of meeting him ever since she was old enough to realize she had a dad. She hops on a plane to England and turns up at her biological father's home on the brink of an election, in which Henry is a prominent candidate.

Sound familiar? If you were wondering why I was going on about this movie, you're not wondering anymore, right? Anyway, let's see what Daphne finds at her dad's home.

  • An Emily Gilmore type grandmother, who appears tough but actually has a heart of gold,

  • A father who appears stiff and unwelcoming at first, but rapidly warms up and realizes that he loves her, and ends up marrying her mom at the end of the movie, so they can all live as one big happy family,

  • A cute potential boyfriend (later to become her actual boyfriend), who was brought up in the privileged aristocratic environment but rebelled and left because he hated it,

  • The requisite evil stepmother and stepsister,

  • An evil scheming politician who is using Henry to achieve his own nefarious ends.

So...how many times do you think Claire's watched this movie? XD She must think she's wandered into the Simpson's House of Horror version, now with added dysfunction.

Thirdly: Apparently Adrian Pasdar has commented at his YouTube account, saying that he will have behind-the-scenes videos to post after the Heroes world tour.

Let me remind you that he is going on the tour with Milo.

*pauses to let the full meaning sink in*

Behind-the-scenes videos, you guys. Shot by Adrian Pasdar himself. Probably featuring Milo. ZOMG.

And some Heroes fic recs to round off the post:

  • (No) Shots Fired, by [info]cadesama. R. Claire POV fic, post-finale. Spoilers for Season 1 only. This is the fic I've been hungering for all summer. Claire, and her thoughts on Peter, and Nathan, and their relationships to her...Claire mourning and dealing with her loss. The Claire voice comes through so clearly, as do Peter's and Bennet's, even though they only appear in small doses. Just emotionally satisfying on every level.

  • Living Like a Burning Man, by [info]virtualinsomnia. Peter, Claire, Nathan, Matt, and Hiro. This fic reminds me why I feel a little afraid for Peter, sometimes--afraid that he's going to lose the innocence and idealism and wide-eyed adorkableness and become someone sadder, wiser, more bitter. The author manages to pack a powerful punch in a short ficlet.

  • Round Two To Petrelli, by [info]medie. G. Heroes/X-Men crossover, featuring Peter/Rogue. Now isn't that a match made in heaven. :-) Seriously though, I am very taken with this ship, particularly since I think Marie could do with some empathy given how much her life sucks sometimes. [info]medie does a great job of making the ship believable and touching and cute in a short, one-shot fic.

  • The Telling, by [info]medie. PG. Nathan/Heidi. I am dying for some Nathan/Heidi interaction in Season 2, and [info]medie really does it justice. As I told her in my feedback: "This is great. I loved it--it felt so true to the characters. And let me tell you: making me feel sympathetic to Nathan w.r.t. his relationship with Heidi is no mean feat."

  • Digby, by [info]medie. PG-13. One take on what happened to Peter after the finale. The Peter-voice rings very true to me, and I loved the quiet, understated tone.

  • The Challenge, by [info]senor_coconut_1. R. Kring/Kripke. The two showrunners challenge each other to a BroYay contest. Crack fic of the best kind.
